Introducing a faster, more efficient Flow. Plus smarter link handling and profile previews.

  • 🔥 Dramatic speed improvements. Our newest version of Flow is faster than ever. Whether you’re adding a comment or creating a new task, you’ll notice that you no longer have to wait for something to save. Which means these are now up to 200% faster. We know that each second saved adds up to more time to get your work done. That’s why we’re working hard to make Flow faster every single day.
  • 🔗 Smarter task and project link handling. We know how frustrating it can be to try to open a task link in the desktop app only to have it route you to the web app. So we’ve overhauled the way we handle task and project links. The next time you try to open a task or project link, you’ll be asked if you’d like to open it in the desktop or web app. You can even save your selection, so links open in your preferred app every single time. To learn more about this feature, read the accompanying support article here: https://www.flow.help/hc/en-us/articles/360033976354-Open-Flow-links-in-the-desktop-app. This is just another way we’re working to shave seconds off everything you do in Flow.
  • 👁 Profile previews. We’ve made it much easier to see someone’s local time, current status, view their profile and tasks, assign them a new task, and even jump to your direct messages with them in Flow Chat. It’s just one way we’re making it easier to work together as a team — whether you’re in the same room or across the globe.
  • 🐛 Bug fixes. We also fixed a few small bugs – including improving how Flow looks on Windows computers. We’re always working hard to make sure Flow works, looks, and feels great across platforms. If you ever see something that could be improved, please share it with us.
  • 🛠 Simplified billing. We’re nearly done with a massive upgrade to our billing system. When this work is completed in early August, we’ll be moving to a new pricing model. You’ll no longer be asked to add or remove users in buckets of 5 seats. Instead, you’ll be able to add or remove users individually — whenever you want, just by inviting or removing them from your organization. We're excited to make it easier than ever to know and control exactly how much you pay for Flow.

Zapier integration, Microsoft sign on, and more.

  • 💻  Microsoft sign on. If you’d like to use your Microsoft account to log into Flow (as opposed to email/password or Google login), this is something we now support! You can hook up your Microsoft account to Flow through the [Account Preferences](https://app.getflow.com/preferences) page. Coming soon: We will also soon be supporting OneDrive as an option when attaching files to comments and notes on Tasks and Projects .
  • ⚡️ Zapier integration. You may have seen in previous updates that we’ve been in the process of putting together a Zapier integration. Good news! It is now publicly available for anyone to use. You can find our integration listed on Zapier’s app directory here: https://zapier.com/apps/flow/integrations.
  • 👾 Electron update. Our desktop app has been updated to use Electron 5. For the most part, you probably won’t notice any difference, but by keeping our infrastructure up to date we make sure we benefit from any bugs fixed on Electron, as well as keeping current with the latest browser improvement.
  • 🐛 15 bug fixes. We continue to fix small bugs within the app to make sure things run smoothly for everyone.

Updates to our emoji picker and other improvements.

  • 😃  Brand new emoji picker. Our emoji picker was due for a visual overhaul and now it has one! The updated picker makes it much easier to quickly find your favourite emoji, as well as select your preferred skin tone. If you’re using a Mac you may also notice that we’ve switched to showing you Apple’s built-in emoji set.
  • Smarter quick task creation. If you quickly want to make multiple Tasks, you can now copy and paste multiple lines of text into the quick task form in order to immediately create several Tasks. Pasting a single line of text will behave the same as it always has.
  • ✏️ Longer Project and Group names. Previously, project and group names were restricted to 50 characters in length. We’ve increased this limit to 255 so that our users who want more descriptive names can have a bit more space.
  • 🐛 9 Bug fixes. We fixed four bugs that could cause a crash in the app in some rare cases, as well as a handful of more minor bug fixes.

Support for Google Team Drive and other improvements.

Here’s a peek at what we’ve shipped in the last few weeks:

  • 🗃  Team Drive Support. A few people have asked about adding team drive support to our Google Drive integration. Good news: We’ve added it! Team Drives is now a menu item option when you open the Google Drive attachment dialog.
  • 🎨 Added Zoom Icon When Hovering Over File Thumbnails. Sometimes it’s the little things. You’ll now find it much clearer when hovering over an attachment thumbnail that clicking on it takes you to a full-size view.
  • ⚡️ Zapier Integration. We’re preparing to launch this publicly, but would still love a few more beta testers. If you’ve ever wanted to connect your favourite tools like Google Sheets, Github, and Wufoo (and many more!) to Flow, this could be a great fit for you. [Get started with our private beta](https://zapier.com/developer/public-invite/16929/81a74105e2fdeb74ba1ec6c0632777e2/) – all you need is a Zapier account to try it out.
  • 🐛 17 Bug Fixes. We like to find and fix bugs before anyone even notices they exist. But sometimes you notice them first and share them with us. We appreciate this so much! Thank you to everyone who has written in about a bug they’ve found 🙌. Here’s a few issues we fixed just for you:
      • Editing a comment failing to save. In certain rare circumstances, an edited comment would not save correctly and an error would show.
      • Line break disappearing in notes. One astute user noticed that if you type in “--------” on a line by itself in a task or project note, it is converted to a styled divider on save. However, when you go to edit the note, the divider had completely disappeared! We’ve fixed our rich text editor so that the divider will stay in place when you go to edit a note, and we have plans to make the divider insertion functionality a button our users can quickly click for easier note formatting.
      • Dropping unscheduled tasks onto calendar view. Dragging and dropping unscheduled tasks onto a user’s timeline calendar wasn’t working correctly. 😳 We have fixed this now, and drag and drop should be fully functional.
  • 📢 Do you have something you’d love to see changed or added to Flow? Email feedback@getflow.com any time to share your thoughts, with our entire team.

Improved contrast and readability throughout the app.

Behind the scenes, we've been working hard to make the entire product simpler, faster, and easier to use. As part of that work, we made a few updates to make all of the text throughout the app more enjoyable to read.

  • Changed the typeface we're using to something simpler, more legible, and less stylized.
  • Got rid of the small text throughout the app, making everything larger and easier to read.
  • Increased the contrast and weight of text across the board. So now you'll see fewer light greys and thin, hard-to-read text.

Every detail matters and we take pride in getting them right. We hope you enjoy the new look and feel of text in Flow!
